2. Training Courses, Workshops and Seminars

2-1 JICA training course: Water Related Disaster Management in Asian Region from May 12 to June 6, 2014 supported by IDI
|
JICA Tsukuba Training course "Water Related Disaster Management (Preparedness,
Mitigation and Reconstruction) in Asian Region" was held from May
12 to June 6, 2014 and IDI supported to conduct this course. 10 participants
from 6 Asian countries (Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines
and Thailand) took part in this course to study Japanese countermeasures
against water related disasters. Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport
and Tourism (MLIT), National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management
(NILIM), Public Works Research Institute (PWRI), Meteorological Research
Institute (MRI) and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) gave lectures
and practices on a wide range of topics, such as precipitation observation,
policymaking, community disaster prevention, and so on. The participants
visited 6 sites, such as Regulating Barrage for Lak Biwa and Seta River,
Re-development project for Amagase Dam, and Kamo River improvement project
with residents relocation, under the jurisdiction of Kinki Regional
Development Bureau, MLIT and Kyoto Prefecture to understand how to implement
policies and plans.
