1. IFNet convenes a joint session at the 2nd South East Asia Water Forum
IFNet Newsletter vol.30 IFNet convenes a joint session at the 2nd South East Asia Water Forum. IFNet is going to convene a session, "Reducing vulnerability from floods, droughts and other water-related disasters" jointly with the Mekong River Commission (MRC) and the Japan bank for international cooperation (JBIC) at the 2nd South Asia Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia, on August 31. The purpose of this session is to develop a series of action-oriented recommendations for how to manage these extreme events so as to reduce human vulnerability. IFNet hosted the session "Floods and Drought" at the 1st SEAWF in Chiang Mai. It generated much interest, among a number of people who discussed actively over floods and droughts. As well as last time, this session is the only one session focused on water related disasters. Further information about the forum:

2. Let us share your local information, experiences and knowledge on floods among the IFNet members in the world!
Conventionally, floods tend to be seen as a region specific matter; hence, their efforts and countermeasures are not shared by other communities. In order to manage floods more effectively, it is essential that the information not confined to those restricted communities, but shared with other regions, to reduce negative impacts on human and environment from flooding. IFNet is gathering and disseminating flood information which is not brought up on international media reports. Any form of information is much appreciated. If you use our form, please download it from the link below, fill up, and send the complete form to the secretariat. E-mail is also welcome.
