1. Workshop on Water and Poverty, Bangladesh
Asia-pacific Regional Consultation Workshop on Water and Poverty organized by ADB was held from September 22 to 26 in Dhaka. The active discussions were made regarding problem solutions, establishment of partnership, action programs and so on in 7 parallel sessions respectively. IFNet Preparatory Unit attended the “Disaster Prevention and MitigationESession and made a presentation about IFNet. The participants listened carefully to the topic of network establishment. Also IFNet Preparatory Unit introduced IFNet at the exhibition, using the brochures, posters, CDs and panels to 300 participants (150 Bangladesh residents and 150 foreign guests).

2. IFNet Preparatory Unit Examined Elbe River FloodiCzech, Germanyj
IFNet Preparatory Unit did a preliminary Study of the Elbe River Floods from 3 to 5 in September, and got the valuable data and photos by the interview and the field study of flood damage in the city. Please see the following URL, you will find the report and photos (http://www.idi.or.jp/vision/report-floodeurope- eng.html) Newspaper said that this flood was 700-year return period in Czech, and it takes three months for recovery of subway systems. On the other hand, the highest water level of this flood was 65cm higher than the 1845, which was the highest record in the past in Dresden (Germany). According to the Federal Institute of Hydrology in Germany, the Damages of Czech was 3 billion euros, and Germany was 25 billion euros.
